Eat For Detox
What you should eat for detox, and why.
Your eating regimen should be suitable to your detox diet. A good rule of thumb is to buy organic fruits and vegetables. The darker the leaf, the better.
The following are some foods you should eat during the detoxifcation process. Preferably you should by organic foods.
Fruit
Eat fresh or frozen fruit. It is my recommendation that you eat frozen fruit, since the fruit has to be picked and then immediately frozen. Buy organic, frozen fruit.
Vegetables
Again buy all fresh or frozen organic vegetables. Vegetables thought to be particularly good detox foods include broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, artichokes, beets, red and green vegetables.
Rice
All forms of rice, including rice cakes, rice crackers and rice pasta. Brown rice is typically preferred over white, which is normally bleached.
Various Other Grains
You could used quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat instead of rice. They can be purchased at a Whole Foods market, health food store or in some grocery stores.
Beans
The easiest to digest are the split yellow and green peas also lentils, they also require the least soaking time. Other good options include kidney beans, pinto beans, mung beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and adzuki beans.
Nuts and Seeds
Nuts that are not salted or seeds can be sprinkled over salads or eaten as a snack. Good options include flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews and walnuts. Nut butters (like almond butter) are permitted. Peanuts and peanut butter are usually not recommended.
Oil
Extra-virgin olive oil is a preferred oil for salad dressing. Use coconut oil for cooking. See this link
Condiments
Good seasonings for your food include vegetable salt, sea salt, vinegar, soy sauce or tamari, all herbs or spices.
Tea
Herbal teas (See this link) and green tea.
Other Beverages
Drink beverages like water, lemon water, pure unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, rice milk
You should be drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day, warm or room temperature. Take the time to chew your food well, especially the fiber rich grains.
These foods are fiber rich and contain no processing which allows the body to better concentrate its efforts to removing the toxins from your body, and make your detox more successful.
